The return trip from Australia went well, as well as sitting in a small chair for nearly 20 hours can go.
All the snow that I skied on last week melted. The forecast for Saturday was for rain and Heather was on call all day. So I was feeling sorry for myself that there would be no chance for adventures this weekend.
But when we woke, Nature had changed her mind. The weather was fantastic. So I threw a bag together, dropped Heather off at the hospital, and headed up to Bandera. I read that weather might move in by 10am, so I hiked real fast. I made the 3000 feet to the west summit in 85 minutes. The weather was still great, so I hiked down the backside and explored some of the lakes before heading back.
The fact that I was hiking at 5000 feet on December 6th and there was absolutely zero snow was a bit disconcerting. I will just not think about it too much.
